On Sunday, six Oberlin students and I will be heading to Ghana to spend four weeks volunteering with an organization called Sankofa Mbofra Fie.  Sankofa Mbofra Fie runs an orphanage and school in the rural village of Eguafo near Cape Coast.  We will be working on capacity building for the organization as well as doing some teaching.  We’ll be sharing stories from our trip periodically on this site.  We hope you enjoy them!

Many thanks to generous donations and grants from the following Oberlin College funds and offices: the Creativity Fund, the Winter Term Committee, the Study Abroad Office, the 1835 Fund, the Bonner Center for Service and Learning, East Hall Council, Burton Hall Council, and Dascomb Hall Council; and to friends and family who have contributed to our personal expenses as well as to Sankofa Mbofra Fie.  Also, thank you to Matt Hollenbeck for making a brochure and to Rick Frank for maintaining Sankofa Mbofra Fie’s website.
